Does anyone have any experience with a ROS. I found a 96 for sale. I have a young family so time is precious, figured if I didn't spend so much then if it sits idle it won't be such a waste of money. I am anticipating having to work on it just wondering if this manufacturer builds a quality hull.

Can't speak to the boat, but I think your strategy is a sound one. If you are not that familiar with boat repair (not engine), take someone with some experience so that they can identify the potential issues. You can then decide if a given boat is right for you and your available time/budget.

Take your time and look at as many boats as you can. The number of used boats expands greatly after Labor day.

Is this the ROS brand of the boat that you are looking at?

If yes, find out if the boat you are looking at was built at the factory or a kit.

Good luck and enjoy the process,
Dan

As with the many posts here regarding new boats, definitely take a test run in one before buying it. That is a funky looking hull design - no flare so it could be wet although with a sharp forefoot it could be smooth at low speeds. Doesnt look like a high-speed-zip-out-in-the-chop boat.

Good luck.

To me it looks like a double-wedge hull. If it is, it will run great in a chop, but max speed will be between 25 and 30 mph.

Took a look last night. Typicaly Quahog Digger boat really heavy duty, hull appeared sound, wide open inside, just a small center box to hold the batteries and old resevoir. Tiller control 60HP, ran it with the hose hooked up seemd decent, but in my opinion a little under powered. Talked with the guy he said is goes pretty good but it is real wet when it gets sloppy. I am no real rush and when I looked at the hull really didn't love it so gona pass. Thanks for the feedback.
