I'm curious about diagnostic software for my 2001 Ficht 115 HP (Model E115FPXSIG, S/N G 04955823) and also about the PALM PDA. I know I'm getting into dangerous territory here, but what would the software title be, and what version, for my Ficht (no response yet from Bombardier), and the same questions for the Palm PDA. What are the costs involved for these items?

I don't have an extra computer and think a hand held PDA would be more suitable. Can these PDA’s be purchased as used units? What recommendations do you guys suggest? I'm curious about tapping into the EMM to see what is going on inside.

Thanks for your help.
Al

Al:

Your best bet is to post that question on Boat Setup and hope that either John from Illinois or Bill Grannis responds. They are 2 of the top OMC/Bomb direct injection gurus going ... see: http://www.boatsetup.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=6;DaysPrune=20

Curious... what are you looking to do/learn/etc. to your FICHT? I've got a 98' 115 that I only let my mechanic touch. Mostly due to the fact that I know squat about motors (but am always willing to learn).

I'm not intending to do any "heavy" Ficht work, just want to see what's going on. There may be occasion when a problem arises to see for myself what may be causing it, and then decide how to approach the solution, whether me or a certified Ficht mechanic.

For about $375 you can purchase the Sony Clie and the necessary Evinrude software (but ETEC requires a laptop as the software is too complex for the Sony) but...you'l have to find a dealer that is willing to sell one. Most will not.
