I'm looking to put a simple poling platform on a 16' Grumman Fisher aluminum boat. It's got a sturdy transom with a thru-boled 25hp 2-stroke on it.
I've found someone who can do the welding, now I need a good design...anyone out there ever done this ?

Just looking for thoughts on best methods for installing one, materials, two legs vs. four, how to best bolt it thru transom, potential problems etc.

Thanks-
Dave

I think that you would like to have four legs with two main legs mounted flush to the transom and through bolted with a backing plate. In addition to this two support legs will go to the aft seat as stabilizers so that the transom does not get worked from the weight of the platform and poler.
