When boat specs list the boat's draft, is is just for the hull itself, or when the boat is loaded - i.e., with motor?
If the spec'd draft does not include the motor, how much does the motor add to draft - in this case a Yamaha 150? Maybe this is not a readily answerable question, but I figured someone on this board might have an answer.
Thanks very much.
List the boats you are considering someone might have real world numbers for you.

Ill bet the Boat MFGs dont have a standard, some list an approx draft without motor length some do. My boat is listed as having an 8 inch (sea pro SV1700) draft and thats the hull draft But that changes if I ve got her full of fuel and sports. My motor ads probable 1 1/2 feet so My draft with the motor all the way down is just over two feet I start to pucker in three feet of water and I have the depth alarm set at Five feet. I can easily drift over shallow areas with the motor trimmed up. Its very abstract there are alot of variables. If possible measure from an aprox waterline to the bottom of the skeg? But again weight will change this

Back when , draft always included her ballast, I would fiqure in the all the variables, just as maineguideman suggested. Good question though.

Thanks, guys. It's a Steiger Long Beach 21. After some research today, found out the draft spec'd includes the weight of the maximum horsepower engine listed for the boat. I got the sense that this did vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
I was asking because the slip I have gets quite shallow at extreme low tides, but I like the boat so much, I've convinced myself that I can make it work.
Thanks again.
I've also got a tide restricted mooring. I can't get out on at anything less than -0.6 or so. last year I bought a Steiger Montauk 21 with a Yami 150 (Longbeach with a full liner- stopped making this version this year I think). Great choice for those conditions. I can maintain steerage with the motor trimmed out in about 18". She'll float in 10-12 inches although I have to pole her along with a boathook.
I love the boat but it does have some limitations. PM me and I'll fill you in on the pros and cons... I'd buy another Steiger but it would be a more bare bones version.
If you're in the neighborhood I'll offer up a seatrial.
