I was looking through the electronics section of the 2004 Boater's World Master Catalog. On the top of page 66 you can read about a new GPS Navagation Software that goes by the trade mark of FUGAWI. fugawi is actually pretty decent software. They allow you to use the freely available charts handed out by NOAA and the Admiralty. Unfortunately most of the more expensive programs, save for the commercial shippng ones, don't let you use these charts...you have to use thier proprietary ones...which sucks. Anyways, if you happen to be in the market for a decent navigation program, it fits the bill. I've used severl different program over the years for cruising, and I really like using the computer to chart courses with. I have also found it a great way to easily scout out offfshore fishing locations witghout having to whip out loads of paper charts.
