Seems like every week I've got a new thread on here. Anyways, here goes with the new one.

I went to put it in the water, lowered the outboard halfway, and turned the key. Nothing. Tried again, still nothing. I then tried to raise the motor, and it wouldn't move. It was a good thing it wasn't all the way down, so I pulled it out, changed the battery, got the tilt to work again, and tried the engine again. Same thing, and now the motor is stuck at 1/2 way down! Now when I turn the key i get a series of quick beeps (Johnson motor, wahoo boat). The battery gauge reads 12 V, but when i hit the tilt controls, it goes to 0 and stays. Do you guys have any ideas of what to do? Thanks.

You have a bad connection somewhere, possibly a crusty battery terminal/cable.

yeah, I would agree with that. Try cleaning your terminals and cables and spraying some WD40 or the like on them.

12 volts is barely enough most of the time. the difference between 12.9 and 12.1 volts is full and dead!!! try the selinoid on the motor itself if the battery and termials are OK

My boat did more or less the same thing this spring: Battery was fine but tilt was slow and motor would not start. Culprit was crusty battery terminals. Cleaned them up and she works fine.

Thanks guys. It was the terminals/connections.
