Fellas,

I have a quick question regarding installation of a hydrofoil on my 2001 60hp Merc. I am in the process of applying the hydrofoil to my cavitation plate but the forward holes/screws, if applied, will go right down threw the "counter torque anode" under the cavitation plate. I am not tremendously experienced with what, exactly, that part does or whether it would be damaging if I simply drilled threw it. Upon taking it off, it looked like it was a simple, cast part with no moving parts attached etc....

Was hoping for your advice on what that part does and how important it is.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had the same problem on my last boat it also had a mercury. I found that if I shifted it back a little it would miss the anode. I guess it depends on the brand of Hydrofoil fin you are using. I found the fin helped Not a ton but noticable especially in tight turns. If you drill thru the anode you will have to take out the Fin bolts to change the anode. Then there the issue of disimilar metals. Maybe the service Tech. where you bought the outboard may have some insight
