On my previous OMC 225 outboard, I disconnected the oil injection system and instead pre-mixed oil and gas directly in the fuel tank. I did this on the advice of a mechanic who had seen many malfunctioning oil injection systems and their disasterous consequences. I ran the engine this way for four years without a problem. I now have a Merc 150 (1993) and I'm thinking of doing the same.
