I have been looking at Grady White boats and am preety serious about buying one.
I am looking at a new 18' with 150 4 stroke.
But for $6k more I can buy a 20' w/same options except it has a used 200hp 2 stroke HPDI motor with 37 hours on it.
For $6k more it seems like a very good deal. What do you think?
Is the 20' a significant enough jump to justify the $6k.
Thanks

Your getting a bigger boat and 50 more hp for the 6K. Just my opinion but it sounds good. You certainly could do a price comparison at other locations on what a 20' packaged with 200hp would run. 37 hours?? that's barely past the break in point.

The 18' and the 20' both come without hydraulic steering. What do you think?
The dealer said I do not need hydraulic steering for a 20' Grady.

I would definitely buy a lightly used Grady 209 over a new 180, even if they had the same power, the 200 HPDI on the 209 is just icing on the cake.
Are you sure that 209 doesn't have hydraulic steering? I'm pretty sure Grady would rig that as standard with the HPDI. You don't have to have it, but it sure is nice.

The dealer is selling me a new 209 with a slightly used HPDI. I guess the 209 doesn't come with Hydraulic steering becauses it was originally manufactured with a different engine?????
I'm going to see if I can test ride the 209 to see how the steering feels.
The 20 footer is substantially more boat that the 18 footer -- more than you might image for just two feet of difference. I have an old (I mean old -- this is its 20th season) 20 foot Grady, and have nothing but extremely positive things to say about it.
