Based on the threat of very expensive gas coming this summer. And the desire for a quieter motor. I'm trading in my 90 hp yammie for a 90 hp Etec. It should be ready near the end of April. The more you learn about these motors the more interesting they become. If I had a PDA and had the right software I could access the motors computer log and get all kinds of data about how the motor has been performing and how many hours the motor was been actually running along with time at various rmps. I'll have more details when I get the motor.

Bob I was really interested in that etec when I was buying my new boat Evinrude seems to have dumped a ton of technology into the desighn. But in the end I went with the 4 stroke yamaha I just didnt have the nads to buy somthing so new to the market good luck and keep us posted on how much you like it.
I didnt even think about gas prices untill I read your post mine has a 33 gallon tank, and at $1.88 a gallon thats a $60 dollar fill up.

You will get excellent fuel economy with that yammie 4 stroke. Another factor was weight. If I went with a 90 hp 4 stroke, I would loose some speed due to the increased weight. Allmost like having a second person in the boat even though I was solo. It's a risk but someone has to be a guinea pig.(#$119)

Bob,

I'm still thinking it through.
And right now everything is pointing to the etec. Comparable fuel economy, reliability, and noise level BUT its lighter, I belive the 70 & 90 were around 311 pounds. Which is lighter than the 4 stroke.
I noticed you picked the 90 etec (which is the same size and weight as the 70). I've been wondering if there is much difference in fuel economy between a 90 & a 70. I thinks its only a few hundred dollar difference in price but the etecs aren't cheap I think around $7-8K
