Own a 18 ft wellcraft fisherman, would like to get an electric trolling motor to allow me to stay on a rip a bit longer. My questions are: do you use a bow or a transom mount? With the foot peg control or without? And finally what brand?
Thank you

Bow mounted with pull up mount that locks it parallel to deck while not in use, foot pedal control, MinnKota. We've found that the boat pulls easier through the water.

I agree, make sure it's saltwater though. Would you consider a solar pad charger also.

Go with The bow mount and like the previous post stated, saltwater model for sure. I put a Minn Kota freshwater model on my boat last season it worked Ok but the hinge broke the hardware rusted etc. It pushed the boat Ok but it wasnt going to last to long with extended salt use. I hear the Great Whit trolling motors are also good But it seems the Minn Kota Riptides are the most Popular. I think they have a bow mount with a wireless remote called the auto pilot

Definately get the bow mount. I would go with the hand control. The foot control is just another thing to bouce around in the boat, and just try operating a foot control in rough water while standing. I also considered the remote control, but just one more thing to go wrong.
