ok here goes...

you will need

2) two sandtube surf rod holders ( the kind you stick in the sand) or PVC

2) boards 1/2"thick 30" long 5"wide

1) carriage bolt and water pipe hold down bracket

1) roll of duck tape for good measure :brow

step 1 take oen board and lay it across the front of the cockpit so you have
about 4" of open space in front of the board to the edge of the cockpit.

then mark a line on the board / following the curve of the cockpit (give an extra 1" outside edge board will look something like this /________\ then cut
ends off the board. take cut board and use to mark other board so the match.
cut 2nd board .

step 2

take the 2 sandtubes they are cut at the bottom so they go into the sand easy match the tubes along these cuts it will shape a V.. tape at bottom of V to hold in place. next you will need a hole drill a little larger then the tube
come in about 3" from end of each end of the board and drill it out. cut same patten on 2nd board so they match up. then drill hole right in the middle of both boats that will be big enough to put a bolt through 2" longer the the 2 boards when placed un top of each other with a wing nut on the bottom..

the idear is one board over one board under the side edge of cockpit pinch with the wingnut to snug it together. attach eye screw forward of that center bolt on top board , this is where the carage bolt hook to on the other end attach the pipe bracket with the curve end to wrap around the front outer edge of the cockpit.when tightened up this will not move at all.


the only thing left is paint or stain and a few more holes drilled to stick tools in plyers, knife..ect.

I've got a few custom add-ons on my yak that I will share but right now it's buried in the garage behind a pile of lumber... that's what I get for buying a fixer-upper home :rolleyes:

Once I thin down the pile some, I'll drag my yak out and take some pics to post.

I did make some paddle clips (for a Pungo) out of 2" PVC conduit. This is nothing fancy but they work fine. I like them better than the commercial rubber ones as I can gently rest the paddle in them and it's quieter. with the rubber clips the paddle sort of snaps into the clips and that noise goes right into the water. I'll try to post a pic when I can tear myself away fro this bourbon and go outside in the cold.....

I wanted a fly rod holder that was removable and also kept the rod close to the deck. so... I made one.

I made/used one almost exactly like that for a while, maybe I got the idea from you. I think you also made a kick-up tranny mount for your kayak I think? That sounded like another good project to hear about. Got any pics?

this is a pic of the transducer mount.
for those of you that didn't see this elsewhere...
my fishfinder has a side scan function which means that
the transducer has to be in the water ( harder to do
in a kayak ) hence the kick up mount in the pic.

--127-3- some great idears here ... try this I always bring an umbrella in case the sun gets too hot out there and if the wind picks up it's a sail for trolling it does not take much to move a p p pungo :brow

Looks good. Any problems with that arrangement? I am wondering about seeing turbulance on the FF or drag for example. Does it stay put even in rough conditions?
