Somehow I missed the whole summer and keeping up with this new system. Anyways, the summer’s almost over, the crowds are leaving and we can get down to some serious fishing. The Derby starts on the 12th, there are a lot of bonito around, the bluefish are getting bigger, the first albies have been caught, and the bass seem to be increasing in numbers. Bait is everywhere, from squid and tinker macs in the harbor to acres of sandeels hugging the shores and shoals. I’ve got lots of prime fall dates available, so just give a call or drop a note to inquire. The only down side is the price of fuel here, which is way over $3.00 per gallon. I’m keeping my rates the same as they’ve been for as long as possible.

Memorial Day Weekend Report

Such a pleasure to have the sun back out again, and with very little wind as well. Spent much of the weekend fishing friends and scouting around to see what had changed over the winter. Lots of small bluefish outside Edgartown Harbor, around Cape Poge and on down to Wasque. As we were looking for dinner, we jigged up a nice 15# bass just off Tom Shoal, then continued on to see what the rips at Wasque looked like this year. There’s plenty of nice edges and once the squid move in, there should be some excellent topwater action. Checked out Middle Ground, but no signs of squid yet jumping out of the rip, though the guys deep jigging and dropping down bait in the deep water inside of the rip have been getting fish.
